Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant role is within the Corporate Accounting Department and reports to the Controller. The Corporate Accounting Department is responsible for all financial transactions and financial reporting of the firm, including the consolidation of foreign subsidiaries and reporting to its parent company. Applications utilized within the department are Great Plains accounting system, Management Reporter, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. In addition to individual responsibilities, this role will serve as a possible backup to other members in the department.
Acadian supports a hybrid work environment, employees are on-site in the Boston office 3 days a week.
What You’ll Do:
Assist Controller with management of accounting, financial reporting, and auditing within the organization
Manage UK accounting with third party accounting provider, and assisting with UK regulatory reporting
Researching IFRS and US GAAP accounting pronouncements, and rolling out new accounting standards
Review accounts receivable, accounts payable and managing all aspects of the general ledger
Analyzing and reporting cost variances
Reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances
Assist Controller with work papers and relevant calculations to support the annual tax process related to the LLC and Partnership entities
Support Controller with transfer pricing initiatives
Assist with ongoing automation projects
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Assist with task related to share-based accounting and quarterly re-valuations
Ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations
Establish and maintain internal controls
Fulfill ad hoc requests from internal and external constituents
We’re Looking for Teammates With:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
Experience with UK accounting and regulatory reporting preferred; Experience with partnership tax a plus
5 years of public or public/private mix of accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and investment products
Must have extensive experience in Excel and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
Previous accounting software (Great Plains, Management Reporter, Business Central or Microsoft based systems) experience a plus
Must possess strong analytical skills, detail oriented, and well-organized
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively, multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
