The idealcandidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have adesire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time, non-unit position withno benefits. This position will assist the Payroll Department with theday-to-day operations; including balancing of payroll, review of employee SelfService timesheets, miscellaneous payments, employee data entry, and labor accountsverification.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the balancing of bi-weekly payroll by comparing amounts entered to control reports;
- Run predictive reports on a weekly basis to identify any discrepancies before payroll close;
- Review miscellaneous payment requests (compensation forms, stipends, and expense payments);
- Run timesheet review reports and take action to resolve errors;
- Assist Payroll team with employee set up in HR/CMS State payroll system;
- Support Payroll Administrator with processing Contracted Adjunct Faculty payments;
- Run predictive reports to review and verify labor charges to department accounting strings, special project codes, and grant codes;
- Correct accounting errors using MMARS State accounting system;
- Support employees with timesheet and Self Service related issues;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or higher with a minimum of three years experience in accounting/accounts payables or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook);
- Extensive working knowledge of computer applications to enter accurate records, generate reports, run ad hoc queries, and utilize data to maintain complex accounting information;
- Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to meet deadlines, work with confidential data, and accuracy with numbers;
- Capable to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
- Experience working in a diverse environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
- Knowledgeable with payroll process or similar accounts payable/accounting systems;
- Familiarity with HR/CMS People Soft/Oracle and MMARS State accounting system;
- Experience working in Higher Education;
- Proficient with Excel formulas and pivot tables.

Salary Range: $30 per hour
